Bio

Haddy Gassama is a Senior Policy Counsel at the ACLU. She most recently served as Director of Policy & Advocacy at the UndocuBlack Network, where she led efforts to advance the rights and well-being of Black immigrant communities. Haddy brings extensive experience in international human rights, as well as immigration law and policy. Prior to her role at UndocuBlack, she was a Detention Oversight Fellow at the National Immigrant Justice Center, where she worked to strengthen Congressional oversight of the U.S. immigration detention system. She also provided legal representation to survivors of torture from Sub-Saharan Africa during her time at TAASC International. In addition to her advocacy work, Haddy is an accomplished writer whose published essays and articles explore topics ranging from gender equity and international politics to pop culture. Haddy holds a BA in Political Science, an MA in International Affairs, and a JD.
